Be brilliant, play brilliant, and become versed in craps the ideal way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is approximately 100 years old. Current craps evolved from the ancient English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the beginnings of the game, although Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It is supposed that Sir William’s paladins wagered on Hazard through a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.
Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 1700s, when displaced by the British, the French headed south and discovered safety in the south of Louisiana where they eventually became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it more mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which is gotten from the name of the bad luck toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi barges and throughout the nation. Many acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the founder of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn created the modern craps layout. He put in place the Do not Pass line so gamblers can bet on the dice to not win. Later, he invented the spaces for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
