Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is just about a century old. Modern craps come about from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the birth of the game, although Hazard is said to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It is believed that Sir William’s horsemen wagered on Hazard amid a siege on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the citadel’s name.

Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when banished by the English, the French relocated down south and found refuge in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns.
